College Student Brain Research Study

About: Researchers in the Neurodevelopmental Laboratory on Addictions and Mental Health at McLean Hospital are looking for healthy volunteers to participate in research examining the effects of alcohol on the brain. Participation includes one appointment during your freshman year, followed by online surveys to be completed in your second and third year. The appointment includes MRI scanning, cognitive tests, and questionnaires.

You may be eligible to participate if you are:

  • College freshman in a four-year program
  • Between the ages of 18-19
  • Right-handed
  • You do not have to be a heavy drinker to participate or drink alcohol as part of the study.

Compensation:  If eligible to participate, you can receive up to $200. Participants will earn $100 for the first appointment, and then $50 for completion of two follow-up phone/web surveys
